After years of assurance that genetically engineered (GE) crops are the answer to pesky pest problems, corn rootworm is now turning into a nightmare for America's agricultural biotech companies.
These insects have developed resistance to an inserted gene in the genetically altered corn crop that is designed to kill them.
In a letter to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), 22 of the nation's top experts on corn pests are calling for the agency to take action "with a sense of some urgency."i
The researchers want seed companies to stop routinely inserting anti-rootworm genes into their corn lines.
Overuse of the gene increases the chances that insects will become resistant to it.

Indian farmers have been robbed of their livelihoods, causing them to take their own lives in despair.
Over the past 16 years, it is estimated that more than a quarter of a million Indian farmers have committed suicide.
Who is responsible for this tragedy?

The US Does Not Ban GMOs here (??)
Genetically Modified Foods, Plants, Animals,
Additives, Body Products, Fish, Crops and Trees have had their genes
manipulated, changed, and put into other species that normally they
would not mate with, blend with, consume, or grow in. Incredible
combinations have been produced, and have been found to have mutations,
diseases, abnormalities and trigger other diseases that otherwise may
have remained dormant.
Very little testing has been done on the health effects of humans ingesting and applying genetically modified products. Tests that have taken place show animals that refuse to eat Genetically Modified feed, who upon being force-fed the Genetically Modified feed develop lesions, abnormalities, disease…and some have died.
Dozens of countries have banned the import, sale, use and planting of Genetically Modified Organisms due to lack of testing and long term study of human health and environmental effects.
The U.S. does not only NOT ban GMO’s, manufacturers are not required to identify or label a GMO ingredient in their food or body products. A conservative estimate concludes that 75+ % of American foods and body products contain genetically modified organisms. Regardless of dozens of scientific warnings, the FDA has approved widespread use of GMO ingredients in America’s foods and body products.
The following countries have banned or restricted the import, distribution, sale, utilization, field trials and commercial planting of GMO’s:

The Municipalities of Burlington, Vermont (declared a moratorium on GE food), Boulder, Colorado (bans on GE crops) and the City and County of San Francisco (urged the federal government to ban GE food) are the only towns or states to take some sort of stand against plants, animals, foods, crops and body products that are, or contain Genetically Modified Organisms.

Despite these things I've tried telling conventionals, this is what I usually get back from them: "that doesn't mean they are harmful to humans" (?) (which we do not know nor is it possible to prove as yet in the long term) and we're told to give evidence ourselves of harm, otherwise we have no reason to question and object? Now, the latest is..it is the "new evolution" and we will learn to 'adapt'! This is not 'evolution' ..even though I don't hold to it anyway. Evolution is a long 'natural' process..supposedly. This is not evolution, and being imposed on everyone without their knowledge, and without proof otherwise that they are 'harmless', one might even consider it diabolical considering the harm done to animals, and to the environment itself.

Health Risks of GMOs

2009, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) stated
that, "Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated
with genetically modified (GMOs) food," including infertility, immune
problems, accelerated aging, faulty insulin regulation, and changes in
major organs and the gastrointestinal system. The AAEM has asked
physicians to advise all patients to avoid GM foods.

CAFOs and Animal Abuse
Most of these large CAFOs
have very high animal densities and confine their cows inside barns or
in feedlots. Some cows are housed indoors year-round. When lactating,
most of the cows are kept tied up in stalls. Cows confined in stalls
show signs of stress from social isolation and the inability to lie
down, as well as increased susceptibility to a number of diseases.
Only USDA-certified organic farms are required to provide some access
to pasture for grazing. In 2008, fewer than three percent of U.S. dairy
cows were managed on organic farms.
Poultry Prisons: The world's tens of billions of meat chickens—"broilers"—grow at a freakishly fast pace. Concentrated in houses with upwards of 20,000 to 30,000 other birds, each full-grown chicken gets less than a square foot of living space. Modern broilers spend their short 7-week lives on top of their own waste encrusted bedding, which the industry refers to as "cake" or "poultry litter," and sometimes enters the food chain as a cattle feed supplement.

not uncommon for a single feedlot to hold 100,000 animals at a time.
While corn is the king of cattle feed, many industrial food animals are
fed just about anything that can add weight cheaply and quickly,
regardless of how unappetizing or sadistic it may seem. Some commonly
used cattle feed additives include: hydrolyzed poultry feathers,
by-products of slaughtered animals, inter-species waste such as swine
manure and poultry litter, antibiotic drugs, cement dust, newspaper,
and plastic roughage replacements.
